Arthur Powers has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Arthur began their career in the Catholic Church, working as a human rights lawyer, community organizer, and pastoral worker in the Amazon region. Arthur then joined Catholic Relief Services as the Director in Brazil, where they grew the program and developed various initiatives in legal rights, water resources, AIDS patient support, and at-risk youth.
After their time at Catholic Relief Services, Powers worked with Projeto POMMAR (USAID) as the Director of Legal Rights & Development for At-Risk Youth in Recife, Brazil. Here, they initiated a $2.4 million USAID program, established an office, and implemented projects focused on legal rights, vocational training, family preservation, and combating sexual exploitation.
Powers later became the General Counsel at Raytheon Brazil, where they oversaw legal work for the $1.3 billion SIVAM Program, an environmental monitoring system for the Amazon. Arthur also led the Amazon Education Program, promoting partnerships between universities and public school districts to enhance teacher training programs.
In 2006, Powers joined Raytheon JPS Communications as the Vice President of Contracts & Corporate Development, responsible for contract management and corporate development strategies. Arthur continued their career in the technology industry at JPS Interoperability Solutions, Inc. as the Vice President & General Counsel, overseeing contractual negotiations, technology acquisition, international business development, and compliance.
Parallel to their professional career, Powers is an accomplished author, having published several books and received numerous awards. Arthur has also worked as an editor for CatholicFiction.net, focusing on contemporary fiction reviews.

Arthur Powers has a diverse education history. Arthur attended Shimer College from 1964 to 1967, where they obtained a B.A. in Social Sciences. Arthur then pursued a J.D. at Harvard Law School from 1969 to 1975, specializing in Law. In 1997, they enrolled at the University of New Hampshire, where they completed a Ph.D. in natural resources & environmental policy in 2010. Additionally, they received community organization training at FASE from 1969 to 1973.
