Herwig Stepan is currently the Chemical Analysis and Science Director at JTI, where they head the chemical analysis and science departments. Previously, from 2020 to 2024, Herwig held roles as the Chemical Analysis Director and Metal Analysis Manager, leading a team of chemists in smoke and tobacco analysis within an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory. Earlier, Herwig contributed as a Method Development Scientist, developing and validating analytical methods in the same field. They earned a Doktor degree from Universität für Bodenkultur Wien in 2012, following a Diplom-Ingenieur in Food and Biotechnology from the same institution in 2007.
