Span Spanbauer

Span Spanbauer is a quantitative researcher at Jump Trading LLC since October 2022, with previous experience as a lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from January 2022 to October 2022. Span founded the New Zealand Forestry Fund earlier in 2022 and served as CEO of Pet Whisperer from February 2021 to March 2022. Span completed a postdoctoral associate position at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from August 2017 to May 2021, where Span was also a Ph.D. student. Span’s prior academic experience includes a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2017-2020) and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution (2011-2013). Span's technical expertise is demonstrated through work as a lead systems architect at Portal Instruments, leading efforts on a needle-free injection system, and an internship as a forward deployed engineer at Palantir Technologies.
