Robert Mullen has worked in the technology field for over 20 years. In 1998, they began their career at E*TRADE Financial as a Principal, IT Architecture. In this role, they evaluated early-stage enterprise projects to identify potential technical and business issues, embedded within application development teams to more effectively address project specific technical challenges, and created an Erlang-based, Tuxedo compatible framework for deploying legacy application services, eliminating mushrooming licensing costs exceeding $10MM annually.
In 2012, Robert moved to Machine Zone as a Sr Platform Engineer, where they implemented platform services used in MachineZone's top grossing MMO games and created a new PHP/Erlang component communication infrastructure to increase reliability of real-time traffic between web services and Erlang backend systems.
In 2017, Robert became an Independent Contractor at Samvia, where they developed Erlang applications for a pre-launch mobile telecom startup, conducted load testing with Tsung, and performed performance tuning and added proper logging and metrics emission.
Most recently, Robert worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Outpost, where they improved scalability of streaming interaction services and built a distributed actor system in Clojure using the tech stack of Clojure, Redis, AWS (DynamoDB, SQS), and Docker/Kubernetes. In 2019, June (which was acquired by Weber, Inc.) hired Robert as a Software Engineer.
Robert Mullen received their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
