Molly Hegarty has a long and varied work experience. In 2003, they began their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Michigan's Ocean Engineering Laboratory and the R.S. Goldman Research Group for Electronic Materials. In 2006, they moved to Intel as a Thin Films Process Engineer, leading a team of 6 technicians and contractors on shift work. In 2009, they became a Student Clinician at Bastyr Center for Natural Health, rating in the top 25% of clinicians by patient satisfaction survey. In 2010, they completed a 10-month, 1200-hour internship training for clinical nutrition professionals at Tulane University. In 2011, they began working as a Nutritionist at Safety Management Systems, where they supported wellness initiatives and programs over the next 4 years. In 2014, they became a Fellow at Propeller: A Force for Social Innovation. In 2015, they took on the role of Project Manager at LookFar, where they helped startups and businesses with their tech needs. In 2018, they became a Board Member at Sankofa Community Development Corporation. Finally, in 2022, they joined Women Business Leaders of the US Health Care Industry Foundation (WBL) as a Member.
Molly Hegarty obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan. Molly then obtained a Master of Science (MS) in Nutrition from Bastyr University between 2008 and 2010. Molly completed a Dietetic Internship at Tulane University from 2010 to 2011. In August 2011, they obtained their Registered Dietitian certification from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In May 2012, they obtained their Adult Weight Management certification from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
