At JYRO, flight is not just engineered - it’s lived.

Built on a legacy of innovation in canopy flight, JYRO is the next generation of NZ Aerosports, globally recognised through the Icarus Canopies brand.

Founded by legendary New Zealand designer and skydiver Paul “Jyro” Martyn, the company helped shape high-performance canopy design for more than three decades, earning a loyal global following and a reputation for bold innovation.

From the day Jyro sewed his first canopy at 19, the company was driven by curiosity, courage, and a determination to challenge convention. That mindset produced iconic platforms such as the Safire and Crossfire, and later breakthroughs like the Petra, redefining modern high-performance flight.

At JYRO, flight is both art and science.

We design and manufacture parachutes that balance innovation with discipline, performance with reliability, and ambition with responsibility. Our leadership team brings deep operational skydiving experience, ensuring every canopy is shaped by real-world insight and tested to uncompromising standards.

With more than 30 years of research and development behind our planforms, we continue advancing aerodynamics, materials, and manufacturing to deliver wings that are dynamic, precise, and dependable. Our products serve sport skydivers, drop zones, and professional operators worldwide who require equipment they can trust.

Our production team of over 50 skilled specialists operates within a structured, quality-focused environment. As demand grows, we are expanding responsibly while maintaining rigorous standards, full traceability, and continuous improvement at every stage of production.

Proudly New Zealand based, we take a practical, direct, performance-driven approach: refining what works, challenging what does not, and standing firmly behind what we build.

We honour our roots.
We carry the legacy forward.
And we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible under a wing.
