Director Of Data Science at Kabam

Michael Wong has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and research. Michael started their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Western University, where they focused on investigating the relationship between MRI gradient coil design and its generated electric field.

After that, they joined the Hospital for Sick Children as a Ph.D. Candidate and later as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. During this time, they developed imaging hardware and image analysis software for phenotyping genetically modified mouse embryos. Michael optimized code for deformation-based analysis and image registration, performed statistical analysis, and published numerous publications. Michael also designed and built a custom Optical Projection Tomography imaging system.

Moving forward, Michael joined Insight Data Science as a Fellow, where they built a Python-based web application to predict the statistical output of NBA basketball players and developed front-end using Python Flask and Bootstrap. Michael also gained experience in data scraping, data cleaning, and exploring using Pandas.

Currently, Michael is working at Kabam as a Director of Data Science. Michael has held various roles within the company, including Principal Data Scientist (Data Science Manager) and Senior Data Scientist.

Michael Wong completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Physics from Western University from 2003 to 2007. Following this, they went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto, which they completed from 2007 to 2015.
