Thomas Cole has extensive work experience in the humanitarian and philanthropic sectors. In 2012, they became Co-Founder of KAIBAE, a company that revalues vital Lost Crops found in indigenous communities across the world and reimagines them as potent health & beauty solutions with a commitment to the environment and the welfare of their harvesting partners. That same year, they also became an Agroecology and Resilience Design consultant advisor for USAID - Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance. In 2010, they became Global Health Lead for Crown Family Philanthropies. In 2007, they Co-Founded and became Senior Technical Advisor for African Women Rising. Additionally, they held two roles at Save the Children International, Program Coordinator- Africa Pastoralist Initiative and Program Director. In 2006, they became Deputy Country Director and Regional Livelihoods, Food Security and Agriculture Advisor for Save the Children US, providing technical assistance to their food security, livelihood, agriculture and HIV/AIDS programs in Uganda, Mozambique, Malawi, Sudan and Ethiopia.

Thomas Cole attended Tufts University from 1987 to 1991, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in African Studies and Education. Thomas then returned to Tufts University in 2005, where they completed a Master's degree in Humanitarian Assistance from The Fletcher School and a Master's degree in Humanitarian Assistance from The Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy in 2006.
