KAKTOS Publications is the proud home of “The Greeks”, the largest collection of Ancient Greek Literature in the world, in 817 volumes. Covering the works of more than 130 Ancient Greek Authors in philosophy, poetry, history, sciences, religion, or fiction, the collection started being released in 1991. It was awarded in April 2000 by the University of Aix-en-Provence in France as one of the most important projects of our time, and later, in October 2002, by the Pierides Foundation in Cyprus.

While the collection is still being enriched with later works, several volumes are now available in English and it has inspired the beautiful collection of children books, called “Ancient Greeks for Kids”.

KAKTOS Publications was established in 1975. During the period 1975-1991, KAKTOS released over 2,800 books that made known to the Greek public the work of leading authors such as George Orwell, Arthur Clark, Isaac Asimov, Henry Miller, Michel de Grece, Karlheinz Dechner, Mary Renault and many others.

Believing in the necessity of releasing current-issue books, KAKTOS innovated by publishing "journalistic" documentaries, in collaboration with several well-known journalists, scientists and public figures (G. Skaribas, P. Pikros, F. Germanos, P. Toutouzas, E. Akrita, and more recently P. Kastanas, N. Meg and K. Loukopoulos), books that have a great resonance with readership. KAKTOS also published important biographies and historiography, with the most recent being the History of the Greek Nation by Constantinos Paparrigopoulos in modern Greek.

In Kaktos Publications we believe in books that shape the cultural life of our society and accompany people of all ages on their journey in the world of ideas.
