Through Kalawikk Diversity Inc, Tera McDonald has been the driving force behind leading reconciliation-informed DEI through a two-eyed seeing lens. This innovative and inclusive approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion focuses organizations and groups to begin their equity work by acknowledging the first peoples of this land now known as Canada. 

Under a Mi’Kmaw turn of phrase, wikoumm aq waso'q (gathering under the stars of our ancestors to share stories) Tera moves facilitation participants through animated talks blending cultural perspective and contemporary DEIB practices. This style of presentation, while informed by Tera’s 20 years of adult education, is draws from their embodied knowledge and prepares audiences for tough conversations in a good way. 

Specifically, KDI has taken this facilitation style and storytelling to 7 provinces in 2024 and clients/audiences include: Bird Construction Group, National Indigenous Circle Against Family Violence, Indigenous Leadership Development Group, Banff World Media Summit, Atlantic International Film Festival, Coralus: the (un)Summit, Cenovus: White Rose Diversity Forum, The Rooms-Reconciliation Informed Board Governance, NIFCO, Office of Applied Research (CNA), Canada’s Smartest Kitchen (Holland College), Ottawa International Animation Festival (Sept 25-27), St. John’s BoT Business Bootcamp, and GenoaDesign. 

In 2024, Kalawikk entered into the film/media market with the writing /hosting of Unsung: the Stories of Mi’Kmaw Veterans. This short documentary series, now streaming on Bell Fibe TV1, provides a glimpse into the lives of Mi’Kmaw soldiers in Newfoundland before and after confederation. KDI’s new production project, Reclamation, was featured in the Atlantic International Film Festival’s Indigenous Showcase.
