Robert O'Bara has extensive experience in scientific computing, currently serving as the Assistant Director of Scientific Computing at Kitware Inc. since August 2006, with a focus on geometric modeling, mesh generation, and visualization techniques. Prior to this role, Robert worked as a Senior Software Engineer and project manager for the GeomSim product at Simmetrix, Inc. from November 1999 to July 2006. Robert's early career included positions as a Research Engineer at the Scientific Computation Research Center, where significant tools like the Model and Attribute Graphical Interface (MAGI) were developed, and at the Rensselaer Design Research Center, where work on high-performance graphics systems took place. Initial research experience was gained as a Research Assistant at the Center for Computer Graphics, developing processes related to high-level graphic systems. Robert holds a Masters of Engineering in Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and both a Bachelor of Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics from Case Western Reserve University.
