Kanapu is a ‘by Māori, for Māori’ initiative set up to connect, attract, nurture and accelerate Māori talent and leadership in research, science, innovation and technology (RSIT).
Based at Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato, Kanapu is designed and led by New Zealand’s Māori Centre of Research Excellence, Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga, and funded by Hīkina Whakatutuki | Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE).
The programme is part of the Expanding the Impact of Vision Mātauranga initiative and has a specific focus on attracting and growing Māori talent in RSIT as well as enabling Māori to better navigate and participate in the system.
