Michael Bauer has worked in various roles in the technology industry since 2001. Michael began their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Yale University School of Medicine, where they conducted research on cardiovascular physiology and disease. From 2004 to 2017, they worked at the University of Pittsburgh as an Assistant Professor, leading a research team of 4-6 lab technicians, research assistant professors, and post-doctoral fellows. Michael also wrote 3-4 grants per academic year, bringing in approximately $1,500,000 in support for the Department of Surgery research program. In 2017, they worked as a Freelance Editor at Cactus Communications- Medical Communications, where they edited scientific journal articles for scientists whose primary language was other than English. From 2018 to 2021, they worked at Parsed - React Native Mobile Development as a Software Engineer and Independent Contractor - Web and Mobile Developer. Michael then moved on to iFIT, where they held the role of Engineering Manager and Full Stack Engineer. Currently, they are employed at KarmaCheck as a Senior Software Engineer.

Michael Bauer has a diverse educational background. Michael obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Loyola Marymount University between 1990 and 1994. Michael then went on to earn a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of California, Los Angeles between 1996 and 2001. In 2017, they began taking courses in Web Development, Front End Web Development, and Web Application Development from DevU, Codecademy, and freeCodeCamp respectively. That same year, they also enrolled in a Nanodegree program in Intro to Programming from Udacity. Michael completed this program in 2018, and then went on to complete two additional Nanodegrees from Udacity in React and Front End Web Development.
