Founded as a monastery in 1335 the Karthäuserhof estate is a legendary German winery. Famed for its monopole vineyard site the Karthäuserhofberg. Located in the Mosel appellation it is overlooking the sublime Ruwer valley. It has now been owned by seven generations of our family since 1811. 

The location in the Ruwer valley brings us wines of enormous elegance, freshness, clarity and minerality. These characteristics and the immense ageing potential associated with them have always characterized the wines of the Karthäuserhof. We counter this historical heritage and nature’s innate conditions with great respect, humility, and appreciation. For us, the key, and the basis for producing high-quality, independent wines that act as liquid ambassadors for the story of the Karthäuserhof and its terroir, lies in the preservation and promotion of biodiversity in and around the vineyard.

We are convinced that we can gain wines of unique elegance year after year by respecting the nature of our extraordinary terroir. Our wines represent humility towards nature, elegance, minerality, crystalline clarity, slate, the coolness of the Ruwer valley, and especially, the unique Karthäuserhofberg.
