Karyashala is an education lab and systemic innovation platform that helps people turn curiosity into capability through observation, inquiry, and making.

Founded in 2021 by architect and designer Jay Jagad, Karyashala works at the intersection of design, research, education, craft, and community development. We create immersive learning experiences where classrooms extend into construction sites, artisan workshops, villages, cities, and everyday life.

Our work spans research-driven courses, institutional workshops, curriculum design, community innovation projects, artisan collaborations, and field-based learning programs. Through partnerships with students, educators, organizations, and marginalized communities, we explore how learning can become more inquiry-driven, contextual, and human-centered.

We believe that knowledge is not something to be delivered. It emerges through careful observation, meaningful questions, hands-on experimentation, and engagement with the world around us.

What we do:
• Research & Design Education
• Curriculum & Faculty Development
• Community Innovation Labs
• Artisan & Craft Collaborations
• Human-Centered Research
• Futures & Systems Thinking
• Social Impact Projects

Our philosophy:
Real learning happens in the field. The best teachers are often the communities we seek to serve. Education is not about transferring knowledge it is about creating conditions where curiosity can quietly light up.
