Karl Chatelain is a Research Scientist at KAUST, where they study high-efficiency combustion concepts for power generation and aerospace propulsion using carbon-free fuels. Previously, Karl held the position of Post-doctoral fellow at KAUST, focusing on high-efficient combustion and low-carbon fuels, and worked as a Research engineer while pursuing their PhD at IFP Energies nouvelles, studying the oxidation stability of fuels. Karl also contributed to research at ENSTA ParisTech as a Post-doctoral researcher and gained experience as a visiting researcher at both MIT and Caltech. They earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from ENSTA ParisTech and a Master’s degree in Energy and Combustion from Université d'Orléans.
