Alex L. began their career in 2004 as a Software Design Engineer for MicroStrategy. In 2005, they joined Google as a Software Engineer, where they were responsible for R&D to develop the first Chinese index outside the main index. Alex was then promoted to Tech Lead and Software Engineer, and later Senior Software Engineer. In 2010, Alex moved to Microsoft Corporation, where they were a Principal Program Manager. In 2011, they became the VP of Search Technology for ShanDa Interactive Entertainment Ltd., where they were responsible for building and managing teams to create new search related products and technologies. In 2012, they joined Baidu, Inc. as an Engineering Director, where they led and built R&D/UE teams for advertising products and big data analytics. In 2014, they became the CTO of DZH, which is labeled as China's Bloomberg, where they were in charge of R&D of investing and trading terminals across different desktop and mobile platforms. Finally, in 2015, Alex co-founded Kavout Corporation, where they applied big data technologies, artificial intelligence and deep learning to quantitative investing and stock analysis.

Alex L. began their educational career in 1992, when they attended Tsinghua University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics in 1997. Alex then went on to the University of Maryland, where they completed a Master of Science in Computer Science in 2003, having been in the PhD program but leaving with a Master's degree. Finally, in 2008, they completed an MBA in General Management from Columbia Business School.
