David Long

Principal Systems Engineer and Assistant Professor of Systems Engineering

David Long, PhD, has a distinguished background in systems engineering, following nearly 25 years as an acquisition officer in the Air Force. They currently serve as a principal systems engineer and assistant professor of systems engineering at KBR, Inc., where they develop and deliver curricula while advising graduate research. Previously, David held various leadership roles, including division chief at the Air Force Research Laboratory and chief of advanced development for Joint STARS. Their research interest focuses on system architecture and human-machine interactions, highlighted by the development of the Compatibility Assessment Method (CAM) for military applications. David also contributes as an adjunct professor at the University of Dayton and has served on multiple advisory boards and non-profit organizations.
