Ian Thompson

Ian Thompson has a diverse work experience in various roles within the aerospace and defense industry. Ian began their career at Boeing Commercial Airplanes as a Contract Design Engineer in 1997. Ian then worked as a Project Engineer at Atkins from 2002 to 2004. From 2004 to 2013, they held roles at GKN Aerospace, including Head of Engineering Integration in North America and Chief Engineer for Bids & Proposals. Ian then joined Cyient Limited in 2013 as the Head of Aerospace & Defense for the UK and Scandinavia, and later became the Head of Aerospace and Defense for EMEA. In 2017, they joined Thompson Aero Seating Ltd as the Head of Research and Development, and later became the Chief Technical Officer. In 2018, they had a sabbatical before working as the Engineering Integration Manager at Zodiac Aerospace until 2019. Since 2019, they have been the Business Development Director at FERCHAU UK and the Director of Strategy & New Business at KDC Projects.

Ian Thompson attended Ballyclare High School from 1979 to 1984. Ian then pursued a degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering Technology/Technician at the College of Technology, Belfast from 1984 to 1990. Later, from 2001 to 2006, Ian completed their BA in Business Studies from the Open University.
