Michael Pyne

Michael Pyne has a diverse work experience that spans over many years. Michael is currently serving as the Prospective Deputy Branch Head for Enlisted Personnel Plans and Policy at the Chief of Naval Personnel. In this role, they are responsible for coordinating and organizing personnel plans and policies for enlisted Sailors in the Navy.

Before their current position, Pyne worked as a Developer at KDE and KDE.org, where they contributed to the development and maintenance of software libraries and applications used by a major graphical desktop environment.

Pyne also worked at NavalX as part of the Digital Platform Team, where they collaborated with a team of innovators across the Department of Navy and the private sector to identify and connect pockets of innovation within the organization and share best practices.

In their previous roles within the US Navy, Pyne served as the Deputy Chief Data Officer for MyNavy HR, where they applied their experience with HR data platforms to support the Chief Data Officer. Michael also served as the Deputy Branch Head for IT Platforms & Infrastructure, where they led the acquisition of cost-effective commercial hosting solutions for the Navy's HR business. Additionally, they served as the IT Requirements Officer for Data, Cloud, and Enterprise Support, playing a crucial role in advancing the Navy's HR Information Systems.

Pyne also held positions as the Deputy Chief of Strategy in the Chief of Naval Personnel's Strategic Actions Group, the Intelligent Workbook Coordinator for OPNAV N100C, and the Deputy N14 for Pay/Personnel Management. Earlier in their career, they completed the Naval War College Resident Intermediate Level Course and served as a Division Director, responsible for teaching a technical nuclear curriculum.

Michael Pyne has an extensive education history. Michael obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College from 2013 to 2014. Following that, they earned a Certificate of Completion in Operations Research (Systems Analysis) from the Naval Postgraduate School from 2015 to 2016. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science from the College of Charleston, where they studied from 2009 to 2011. Michael'sundergraduate education includes a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science from the University of North Florida, which they obtained from 2001 to 2004.

In addition to their formal education, Michael Pyne has also acquired several certifications. Michael obtained the "Innovation Navigator" certification from BMNT Inc. in July 2022. Before that, they completed the "Joint Professional Military Education – Phase I" program at the Naval War College in November 2014. In August 2011, they obtained the "Master Training Specialist" certification from the Naval Education and Training Command. In November 2010, they received the "Screened for Submarine Department Head" certification from the Submarine/Nuclear Officer Assignments (PERS-42) at the Naval Personnel Command. Prior to that, they achieved the "Nuclear Engineer Officer" qualification from the Office of Naval Reactors in July 2008. Lastly, they obtained the "Professional in Human Resources" certification from the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) in December 2012.
