Established in 1961, Kenya Children’s Homes (KCH) stands as one of Kenya’s most enduring and reputable child welfare institutions. For over six decades, we have evolved from a traditional residential facility (formerly Thomas Barnardo House) into a modern, holistic social impact ecosystem committed to the protection, education, and empowerment of vulnerable children.

Our Scale & Legacy

Having impacted over 6,000 lives since our inception, KCH today supports approximately 400 children through a diverse portfolio of programs. We have successfully transitioned from institutional care to a forward-thinking model that prioritises family reintegration, community-based support, and high-quality education.

A Sustainable Ecosystem

KCH is unique in its operational model, blending charitable programs with robust social enterprises to drive financial resilience. Our ecosystem includes:

The Jonathan Gloag Academy (JGA): A premier academic institution providing top-tier education to both sponsored children and the wider community.

The Westminster Events Centre: A commercial social enterprise that generates revenue to support our welfare programs.

Soila Maasai Girls Centre: A specialized rescue and education facility protecting vulnerable girls in Suswa.

Butterfly & Outreach Programs: Dedicated initiatives for family tracing, reintegration, and community support in informal settlements.

Our Future

As we navigate the next phase of our journey, KCH is focused on local sustainability, governance excellence, and deepening our impact through strategic partnerships. We invite corporate partners, alumni, and donors to join us in building a future where every child has the foundation to thrive.
