Chief Executive Officer at Kernel

Ryan Field has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Ryan is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer at Kernel, a position they have held since March 2023. Prior to this, Ryan was the Team Lead for Kernel Flow and the Director of ASIC Engineering at Kernel from August 2018 to March 2023. Ryan also held the position of Director of ASIC Engineering at Quanergy from May 2018 to July 2018. Before joining Kernel and Quanergy, Ryan worked at Intel Corporation as a Research Scientist, focused on analog/mixed-signal design from June 2013 to March 2015. Ryan conducted their doctoral studies at Columbia University from August 2007 to August 2013, specializing in mixed-signal circuit design for biomedical imaging. Additionally, Ryan has worked as a Researcher at IBM in 2008 and as a Research Assistant at both the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and the University of Minnesota in 2006 and 2005 respectively.

Ryan Field has a strong educational background in the field of Electrical Engineering and Physics. Ryan earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering & Physics from North Carolina State University between 2002 and 2007. Ryan then attended Columbia Engineering, where they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering in 2008. Ryan further pursued their studies at Columbia Engineering and completed a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from 2008 to 2013.

In addition to their academic accomplishments, Ryan Field has also obtained certification as a Semiconductor Automotive Functional Safety Professional from SGS-TÜV Saar GmbH in May 2016.
