Kevin Lester is a board counsel and strategic advisor operating at the intersection of legal strategy, governance, and institutional complexity in mining and highly regulated sectors.
After 15 years with Anglo American — including as General Counsel for upstream businesses across Australia, Brazil, Chile, Peru and South Africa — Kevin established an independent advisory practice focused on boards, chief executives and chief legal officers navigating complex, high-stakes decisions.
His work draws on three decades of pattern recognition: seeing how present tensions connect to longer institutional histories, identifying dynamics that conventional analysis misses, and surfacing options before they become obvious to everyone else.
Alongside his advisory work, Kevin writes and publishes #MiningIsHuman — independent research exploring mining through institutional, historical and governance lenses, reaching a senior global mining audience since November 2025.
