Joel Key is an experienced engineer and business leader with a strong background in embedded product development and team management. As the Owner and Engineer at Key Engineering LLC since September 2021, Joel has supported teams in creating advanced embedded products, focusing on Functional Safety and efficient processes. Previously, Joel served as Managing Director for the Vehicle Business Unit at Ainstein, where a strategic pivot was successfully executed, along with responsibilities for P&L and organizational growth. Prior roles at Ainstein included Software Engineering Manager and Lead Embedded Software Engineer, where Joel managed teams and oversaw the development of advanced software solutions. Earlier experience includes positions at Hanon Systems as Firmware & Controls Engineering Manager and General Motors as an Electric Motor Control Software Engineer. Joel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
