Samir Passi is a Responsible AI Researcher at Microsoft, part of the AI Ethics and Effects in Engineering and Research team (AETHER) since June 2021. Samir analyzes sociotechnical challenges associated with Responsible Artificial Intelligence (RAI) products and systems. Previously, Samir also served as a Research Intern at Microsoft, focusing on the ethical dimensions of AI systems. Additional research experience includes work at eHumanities Group on privacy and trust in online social media, participation in the IMGAME project at Cardiff University, and analysis of media strategies for Maastricht University in relation to Indian students. Samir holds a PhD in Information Science from Cornell University, an MSc in Science and Technology Studies from Maastricht University, and a B.Tech in Information and Communication Technology from Dhirubhai Ambani Institute.
