Michelle Phillips, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience. Michelle began their career in 2011 as a Writing Consultant for Rice University Program for Communication Excellence. In 2012, they joined Private Equity International as a Financial Journalist and Staff Writer, Greater China. In 2014, they took on a role as Assistant Editor for Berkeley Journal of Sociology, as well as a Civic/Legal Change Researcher, Ph.D. Candidate and Founder and Manager of Human Rights in Social Sciences Student Lab at University of California, Berkeley. In 2016, they were a Freelance Journalist for North America at Private Equity International. In 2017, they were a Fulbright Fellow at The Fulbright Program. In 2018, they were an Expert Data Analyst and Advisor at Mission for Migrant Workers. In 2020, they became a Team Facilitator at Berkeley Innovative Solutions (BIS) Consulting - Haas Business School. Michelle Phillips, Ph.D. has a long and varied educational history. Michelle obtained their High School Diploma from Chengdu International School in 2008. Michelle then attended Rice University from 2008 to 2012, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts in English, Anthropology, and Asian Studies. From 2012 to 2012, they were a Visiting Scholar at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in Sociology. In 2014, they earned their Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. Finally, in 2021, they earned their Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. Additionally, they have obtained certifications from LinkedIn in Confronting Bias: Thriving Across Our Differences, from the Human Rights Center, UC Berkeley School of Law in Digital Forensics, and from Rice University in Chinese Language Fluency.
