Neha Patil

Data Scientist at Kharon

Neha Patil has four years of work experience. In 2021, they began working as a Data Scientist at Kharon. From 2019 to 2021, they worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Natural Language Processing at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In 2019, they were an Applied Scientist Intern at Amazon, where they improved the existing text-level error simulator for Alexa by adding phoneme-level functionalities, designed a language model to score an utterance and simulate the n-best list of hypotheses, and merged the phoneme functionalities and the language model to the production pipeline. Neha also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where they designed Gaussian mixture models to approximate time-series data of departures and arrivals for Mobility on Demand systems, and determined how accurately the universal first-principles macro model of commuting can explain the dynamics of on-demand shared mobility. Additionally, they conducted an Individual Study, where they designed a reinforcement learning agent for a co-creative robotic arm that processes a narration input and sketches an image accordingly with adaptation based on user feedback, and devised an automatic training model for the co-creative robot by unifying four different modules.

Neha Patil received their Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Engineering from MKSSS's Cummins College of Engineering for Women in 2018. Neha then went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, which they completed in 2020.
