Kara Moore has a background in American Sign Language/English Interpretation and a passion for comedy. They have extensive experience in coaching, teaching, and facilitating improv comedy. Currently serving as Managing Director at Kickstand Comedy, Kara is dedicated to empowering students to find their voice on stage. Prior to their current role, they held positions at Playatworkpdx, Curious Comedy Theater, The Playground Theater, and Columbia College Chicago, where they worked in American Sign Language communication. Kara's commitment to creating inclusive and engaging comedy spaces shines through in their work.

Curated live comedy with a focus on quality, community, and unique voices. We’re a non-profit, all-inclusive space for Portland’s comedy scene to perform, collaborate, and learn. We strive to break down the barriers to seeing and doing comedy and help make PDX comedy inclusive and undeniable! Expect funny people, unique voices, weird sh*t, and affordable classes and shows. MISSION: To transform and enrich the lives of performers and audiences through comedy. We address the ongoing needs of the community and its diverse perspectives through dynamic shows and community outreach events—creating equity across our organization and beyond while providing opportunities for performance, education, and laughter. VISION: A thriving, diverse, equitable and representational comedy scene that compensates performers, and establishes Kickstand and its fans as an iconic institution in the Pacific Northwest.
