Sam Sharar serves as the Associate Medical Director for King County Medic One since July 2019. Concurrently, Sam has been a Co-Editor for Wolters Kluwer Health's Medical Textbook Series, contributing to the 8th and 9th editions of Clinical Anesthesia and founding Co-Editor for Clinical Anesthesia Fundamentals. Since July 2008, Sam has volunteered as a Global Health Educator with multiple non-governmental organizations. Additionally, Sam holds the position of Emeritus Professor in Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at the University of Washington, where responsibilities include serving as Vice-Chair for Faculty Affairs and Development and Co-Principal Investigator for the Virtual Reality Pain Relief Research Program. Sam earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in Engineering Sciences (Biomechanics) from Harvard University.
