Brian Shurtleff

Level Designer

Brian Shurtleff is a Level Designer at King since March 2023, and previously served as a Game Designer at 1st Playable Productions from June 2009 to March 2023, contributing to over 40 shipped titles for clients including Disney, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network. Shurtleff's expertise encompasses a wide range of game design tasks such as mechanics and system design, user playtests, narrative design, documentation, prototyping, scripting, and sound design. Additionally, Shurtleff taught an “Introduction to Game Design” course as an Adjunct in the Department of Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in fall 2018 and wrote dialogue for the indie game Slap Friends during a brief tenure at Pretty Fox Games. Shurtleff began a career in education as a Game Development Instructor at Emagination Computer Camps from June 2007 to August 2008, guiding high school students in game design principles. Shurtleff holds a B.F.A. in Game Development from the Savannah College of Art and Design, completed in 2009.
