Mei Shelp, Ph.D. P.Eng, currently serves as the Director of Environment at Kinross Gold Corporation, where responsibilities include overseeing the global environmental management system, environmental impact assessments, permitting activities, and team training and development. Additionally, Mei holds a position on the Board of Directors for the International Network for Acid Prevention. Prior experience includes serving as the Director of Water Management at Centerra Gold Inc., leading teams in mine water and tailings management, and various roles at Barrick Gold Corporation, including Senior Manager and Manager in Environment, Hydrology & Air Sciences. Earlier in the career, Mei specialized in mine water management at Golder and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Western University focused on soil and water covers for mine waste management, following a Doctor of Philosophy in Land Resource Science from the University of Guelph.
