John has spent more than 30 years focusing on the role that financial services law and public policy advocacy can play in fostering opportunity, openness and innovation. John joined Facebook in 2018 as lead counsel for Facebook's blockchain initiative. Prior to Facebook, John was PayPal's first General Counsel and later its Vice President for Payments Policy.
John has also served as the co-chair of the American Bar Association Joint Subcommittee on Electronic Financial Services and as the chair of the California Bar Association Financial Institutions Committee.
