Rick Friedel

Principal Geotechnical Engineer, Vancouver at KCB

Rick started his career in geotechnical engineering at KCB as a co-op student in 2000 and since then has advanced his technical and management career to become a trusted advisor to both his peers and mining clients. Rick became an Associate in 2012 and was promoted to Principal in 2016.

Rick has worked across Canada and internationally, primarily in the mining sector. His experience includes the design, management and closure of tailings storage facilities, mine water management and other earthfill structures. Experienced in dam safety inspections and reviews and managing design and construction projects for operating and closed mine sites, Rick is a respected leader in mine tailings technologies.
