Dave Bohlmann

VP of Technology at KMC Controls

Dave Bohlmann has over 37 years of work experience in various roles in the technology industry. Dave started their career in 1983 as a Senior Electrical Engineer at Northrop Grumman Electronic, where they created and implemented Automatic Test Equipment hardware, firmware, and software for missile inertial measurement units. From 1987 to 1995, they worked at Magnavox as a Senior Software Engineer, where they developed embedded software for graphics and post-processing engines for avionics systems, as well as real-time Ada software for avionics graphics drivers and DSP software for airborne telephony systems.

In 1995, Dave joined Adaptive Microware as a Staff Software Engineer, where they created firmware for a multimedia set-top box and integrated it into various video-on-demand systems. Dave then worked at Crown International from 1996 to 1999 as a Principle Systems Engineer, leading the development of a product line for internet-over-satellite and commercial radio feed services.

From 1999 to 2000, Dave was a Principle Systems Engineer at Adaptive Broadband, where they coordinated the design of a product line for internet-over-satellite services and performed system network design and training for global customers. Dave also wrote technical aspects of proposals and marketing brochures.

From 2000 to 2003, Dave worked at Wind River Services as a Member of Technical Staff, leading a team to enhance a standard file system for multimedia applications and researching multimedia and integrated file systems for a new product line. Dave also evaluated TiVo set-top boxes and developed embedded software for DTV set-tops.

In 2003, Dave joined Buena Vista Datacasting as a Staff Software Engineer, where they evaluated and tested set-top box software and developed product specifications and test plans. Dave also developed special software to support manufacturing and field testing.

From 2003 to the present, Dave has been at KMC Controls as the VP of Technology. In this role, they have developed and evaluated product specifications and resolved highly visible, stressed field issues. Dave has been highly involved in prioritizing engineering issue resolution across the product line, which includes HVAC digital controllers and operator work station software involving BACnet.

Dave has also had experience in the education sector, working as an Adjunct Professor at Ivy Tech Community College from 2009 to the present, where they have taught various technology-related courses.

From 2013 to 2015, Dave worked at Deep Space Industries as a Technical Lead in the Special Projects Division, focusing on communications, avionics, and software.

Dave Bohlmann has a Bachelor's Degree in Physics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Evansville, which they obtained from 1977 to 1981. Dave further pursued their education at Concordia Theological Seminary, earning a Master of Divinity degree in Systematics from 1987 to 1994. Additionally, Dave obtained certifications in the Amateur Radio Service, Technician Class from the Federal Communications Commission in May 2012, and they also hold a CISSP certification from (ISC)².
