Michael Berthold

Michael Berthold is the CEO of KNIME AG, a position held since January 2017, focusing on accelerating growth and professionalizing the company post-fundraising. Concurrently, Michael serves as an Honorary Professor at Konstanz University since October 2022, after a previous tenure as a Professor from August 2003 to September 2022, where the focus was on Bioinformatics and Information Mining. As a founder and former CEO of KNIME from September 2006 to December 2016, Michael played a pivotal role in establishing the organization. Previous experience includes leadership roles at Tripos, Inc. and Utopy, as well as academic positions at UC Berkeley. Michael began a research career as a Research Scientist at Intel Corporation after earning a Dr. rer. nat in Computer Science from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
