Lana Carlene has over 15 years of work experience in the field of user experience (UX) design. Currently, they work as a Principal UX Designer at Knowable, where they have been since 2019. Prior to this role, Lana held the position of Senior User Experience Designer at Knowable from 2019 to 2023.

Before joining Knowable, Lana worked as a Freelance UX Designer from 2018 to 2019, providing project-based services to various clients. During this time, they completed a project with Escapees, focusing on improving information architecture and task flows for their member-only website.

From 2015 to 2018, Lana worked at Apptio as a Senior Product Designer, where they were responsible for evolving the product suite, particularly in the areas of Cost Transparency and IT Planning applications. Lana produced user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and other design artifacts to effectively communicate with engineers and product managers.

Prior to their time at Apptio, Lana worked as a User Experience Consultant from 2008 to 2015, providing digital UX consulting to Seattle-area companies. Lana collaborated with various organizations including Microsoft, AT&T, Starbucks, Boeing, and T-Mobile, delivering successful projects either as part of a team or as an independent remote collaborator.

Lana's earlier experiences include roles as a Senior User Experience Architect at The Hacker Group from 2009 to 2009, and at POSSIBLE (formerly ZAAZ) from 2008 to 2008. Lana also worked as a User Experience Architect at Ramp Technology Group in 2007 and as a Usability Specialist at Metia, Inc. from 2006 to 2007. Lana initially began their career as a Usability Analyst and Information Architect, providing consulting services to various projects as a self-employed professional in 2006.

Before transitioning to UX roles, Lana worked as a Business Development Manager at the smartdept. inc. from 2004 to 2006, where they significantly increased profits by leveraging their background as a designer to facilitate placements and cultivate client relationships.

Lana Carlene obtained a certification in Usability Analysis from Human Factors International in 2006. In 2001, they attended a Usability Conference at Nielsen Norman Group. Furthermore, Lana Carlene pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design & Advertising at Rocky Mtn. College of Art & Design from 1997 to 1998. Additionally, they obtained a certification as a Certified Usability Analyst from Human Factors International in August 2006.
