John Geel has extensive experience in maritime operations, currently serving as the Head of Operations and a member of the Management Board at KNRM, where responsibilities include ensuring operational readiness at lifeboat stations and overseeing the proficiency of crew and rescue equipment. John has also held positions as Operational Lifeboat Inspector and Technical Lifeboat Inspector at KNRM, with a focus on quality and safety monitoring, maintenance, and new construction projects. In addition to these roles, John has been actively involved with the International Maritime Rescue Federation since 2013 as a facilitator for Mass Rescue Operations Workshops and a member of the Mass Rescue Operations Project Working Group, aiming to enhance global preparedness for mass rescue incidents. Earlier career experience includes positions as Workshop Manager at Geveke Werktuigbouw and Ship's Engineer at Dockwise and Wijsmuller. Academic qualifications include a Master's degree in Crisis and Disaster Management and a Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering.
