Ryan Lee has a diverse work experience in various engineering roles. Ryan started their career as a Design Engineering Intern at AdvanTec Global Innovations in 2017. In 2018, they worked as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at the Department of National Defence. In 2019, they gained experience as a Mechatronics Engineering Intern at Mazdis Inc. and as a Mechanical Design Engineer Intern at Cellula Robotics Ltd. Ryan then worked as a Computer Vision Research Assistant at the Multi-scale Design Laboratory and Flannigan Lab from 2020 to 2021. In 2022, they were a Deep Learning for Computer Vision Intern at Kodiak Robotics and later became a Corporate Startup Student Fellow at American Honda Motor Company, Inc. in the same year. Currently, they are employed at Kodiak Robotics as a Perception Software Engineer starting in 2023.

From 2021 to 2023, Ryan attended Carnegie Mellon University, where they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Robotic Systems Development within the School of Computer Science.
Prior to that, from 2015 to 2020, Ryan attended The University of British Columbia and obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Applied Sciences, with a specialization in Mechatronics in Mechanical Engineering. Ryan also pursued a minor in Commerce during this time.
In addition to their formal education, Ryan has obtained several certifications. In July 2020, they completed the "Deep Learning Specialization" from Coursera. In June 2020, they completed the "Machine Learning - Stanford Online" course, also through Coursera. In June 2020, they obtained the "Self-Driving Car Engineer Nanodegree" from Udacity.
Furthermore, Ryan achieved various certifications related to SolidWorks software from Dassault Systèmes. In December 2017, they became a "Certified SolidWorks Professional - Advanced Weldments Specialist (CSWPA-WD)". In November 2017, they obtained the "Certified SolidWorks Professional - Advanced Sheet Metal Specialist (CSWPA-SM)" certification. In October 2017, they achieved the "Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP)" certification. Additionally, in September 2017, they became a "Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA)" and obtained the "Certified SolidWorks Professional - Advanced Drawing Tools Specialist (CSWPA-DT)" certification.
Ryan also holds other certifications, such as a Class 5 Driver's License from ICBC (Insurance Corporation of British Columbia), obtained in July 2017. In May 2019, they obtained the "Standard First Aid/CPR-C/OFA Level 1" certification from the Canadian Red Cross. Lastly, in August 2015, they achieved the "Water Safety Instructor" certification, also from the Canadian Red Cross.
