Markku Kumpula has a diverse work experience spanning several companies. Markku began their career as a Project Engineer at Airix Teollisuus Oy in 2007, where they worked as an Electrical Designer. From 2008 to 2012, they worked at PMC Polarteknik Oy as a Project Manager and Project Engineer, overseeing delivery projects for internal door systems for rolling stock. Markku then moved on to Metso Power Oy, Service where they held the role of Project Engineer in the Electrical and Instrumentation discipline, managing various service projects related to power and recovery boilers. In 2014, they joined Valmet Technologies Oy as an Engineering Manager for their Environmental Systems division, responsible for overseeing the entire engineering process in delivery projects. Most recently, since 2015, they have been with Koja, first as the Head of Marine Electrical Team and later as the Head of Marine Electrical and Automation Team, where they lead a team of experts in marine HVAC systems and automation.

Markku Kumpula pursued their education in power electrical engineering at Tampere University of Technology from 2001 to 2007. During this time, they completed their Master's Degree in the field.
