Jack Kavanagh

Staff Software Engineer

Jack Kavanagh has extensive experience in software engineering, with a focus on web and mobile application development. Jack has worked for various companies, starting with LumiraDx in 2009 where they developed a web application for managing anticoagulant dosing. Jack then worked at Zhuhai American TPR English School as an English teacher before joining Aqua Intelligence Ltd / River Marketing as a software developer, where they specialized in digital marketing solutions. Jack later worked at Malooba as a software developer, contracting in the broadcasting industry for video on demand and asset management.

From 2015 to 2016, they worked at Beijing Ingenta Digital Publishing Technology Ltd, first as a software consultant, providing consultation, research, and training services. Jack then became the tech lead, leading a team in designing and developing a multilingual publishing platform. Jack also served as the deputy technical director during this time.

In 2016, they joined iHealth Labs Beijing as a full stack developer, focusing on React Native, DevOps, and strategic partnership projects. Jack led the implementation of a Rancher-based microservice architecture and developed several react-native apps for chronic disease management.

Jack's next role was at Werkspot in 2018, where they became the lead mobile developer, leading a team of four developers in building a React Native product and improving feedback loops.

Jack'smost recent position is at Kong Inc., where they started in 2019 as a senior software engineer. Jack was responsible for integrating AI/data features visualization and scaling in the AI team. Jack also contributed to the Insomnia team, working on electron app development and rearchitecture. In 2022, they transitioned to the role of staff software engineer, focusing on Insomnia core development, Electron and React modernization, and HTTP and WebSockets.

Jack Kavanagh obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Computer Science with Games Development from the University of Hull from 2004 to 2007. Prior to that, they attended Truro College from 2002 to 2004, where they earned a BTEC ND in IT practitioners with a focus on practical applications of IT. In addition to their formal education, Jack also obtained a certification in First Line Management (Level 3) from the Institute of Leadership & Management in August 2010.
