James Zhou

James Zhou has diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. James is currently working as a Software Engineer at Kong Inc. since March 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Diligent as a Software Engineer from July 2019 to February 2022.

James also has experience as a Student Software Developer at UBC BEST, where they designed an embedded system architecture and developed a Java desktop application. James implemented Agile software development processes and worked on gathering and processing patient data. James held this role from May 2016 to April 2019.

Additionally, James worked as a Software Developer Co-op at Statistics Canada from January 2018 to August 2018. James developed full-stack web applications and improved code maintainability using C#, JavaScript, ASP.NET, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Azure. James also employed Dependency Injection and MVC design patterns.

Furthermore, James gained experience as a Bioinformatics Co-op at BC Cancer from May 2017 to December 2017. James utilized Python data science skills for bioinformatics analysis, Shell scripting and Hadoop Distributed File System for file manipulation, and SQL query optimization in PostgreSQL for improving genomic data assembly efficiency.

Lastly, James worked as a Codemakers Instructor at Geering Up UBC Engineering & Science for Kids in June 2016. James taught computer science principles and programming skills to high school students through Python, JavaScript, and C programming projects.

James Zhou attended The University of British Columbia from 2015 to 2019, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Computer Engineering. In addition to their formal education, James obtained the Kong Gateway Foundations certification from Kong Inc. in March 2022.
