Dean Brain has had a diverse work experience in the media industry. Dean started their career in 1981 at Radio Hauraki as a Production Assistant and Programmer Assistant. From there, they moved on to roles such as Production Assistant and Announcer Training at Radio New Zealand in 1983, and Radio Announcer/Production Manager at Radio Bay of Plenty 1XX from 1983 to 1986.
In 1986, Dean joined Radio Windy as a Station Engineer and Production Manager, also co-hosting the Breakfast show. Dean then worked at Canwest from 1991 to 2001, where they held the positions of Group Technical Manager and Production Manager (Radio) Announcer.
Dean's career continued at MediaWorks NZ from 2000 to 2005, where they held the role of IT Manager and Station Engineer. Currently, they are the Head of Media at Kordia, which they joined in January 2006. Before taking on this position, they were also the Head of Content Services and Wellington Area Manager at Kordia.
Throughout their career, Dean has gained experience in various aspects of the media industry, including TV production, transmission, OTT, IP TV, linking and satellite broadcast, FM and AM broadcast, DAB, playout, and people management.
