Shawn Cole has diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Shawn started their career at Pipeline Studios Inc as a Technical Director, working on children's shows and handling tasks such as editing, rendering, and compositing. Shawn then joined Pivotal Labs as a Product Designer, leading multiple projects and focusing on user interface and experience design. Afterwards, they worked at Kinetic Commerce as a Senior Interaction Design Manager, collaborating with product managers and client stakeholders on a major project. Following that, they joined Helpful.com as a Product Lead, overseeing product development and working closely with the founders, engineers, and data science experts. In 2018, Shawn co-founded Humanistic Design, where they served as Principal Designer, Researcher, and Strategist until 2023. Currently, they are working as a Design Lead at Koru.
Shawn Cole attended St. Lawrence College from 2004 to 2007, where they studied Graphic Design. Shawn later enrolled in Sheridan College from 2009 to 2010, focusing on Computer Animation.

Koru is a captive venture studio backed by Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. Founded in 2019, Koru exists to drive value creation and grow the overall enterprise value of OTPP’s portfolio companies by partnering with them to identify, validate, build and oversee new disruptive business opportunities that leverage unfair advantages. Ultimately, this is in service of providing the pensions of the teachers of Ontario. Since 2019, Koru has built and launched 9 new ventures across a variety of industries and geographies including child care, field safety, customer service innovation, financial services, e-commerce logistics, elder care and climate tech/energy transition.
