Steve Tooke

Steve Tooke has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Steve began their career as a Sponsored Student at Racal Instruments, where they gained experience in software projects. Afterward, they worked as a Senior Software Developer at Hugh Symons Information Management, leading the redevelopment of software products and introducing agile methods.

From there, Steve joined Collier & Dobson Limited as an IT Manager, where they were responsible for the company's IT systems and e-commerce platform. Steve also developed and launched a new product line. Following this, they founded Heavies, a boutique software consultancy focused on UX, and worked with clients on project kick-offs.

Steve then started their own independent consultancy called BoxJump, where they provided coaching and advisory services to help clients improve their product and engineering practices. Steve later co-founded Cucumber Limited, where they built the commercial entity to support the open source project and offered training, consulting, and SaaS products.

In 2019, Steve joined SmartBear and held various roles, including Senior Product Manager, Director of Product Management for BDD Products, and Director of Product Management for SmartBear Advantage. In these roles, they led product management teams and guided product development and mergers.

Most recently, Steve joined Kosli as a Principal Engineer. Additionally, in 2023, they founded Tooky & Co Limited.

Steve Tooke completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) with Honors in Software Engineering from The University of Manchester, from 1998 to 2002. Prior to that, from 1992 to 1997, they attended Queen Elizabeth's Upper School in Wimborne, Dorset, where they completed their A-Levels in Maths (B), Physics (C), Media Studies (C), and General Studies (B), as well as their GCSEs with 10 A-Cs.

In addition to their formal education, Steve Tooke has also obtained various certifications. Steve completed several courses on LinkedIn, including "Developing Business Acumen," "Coaching Your Team to Think and Act Strategically," "Design Thinking: Understanding the Process," "Giving and Receiving Feedback," and "Systems Thinking" in 2023. Steve also completed courses such as "Be the Manager People Won't Leave," "Lean Technology Strategy: Financial Management to Support Business Agility," "Lean Technology Strategy: Purposeful Organizations," and "Lean Technology Strategy: Running Agile at Scale" in 2023.

Furthermore, Steve Tooke obtained the PMC Level III certification from Pragmatic Institute in September 2022, and PMC Level I and II certifications in March 2022. Steve has also achieved the Pragmatic Certified Product Manager title from Pragmatic Institute but the specific dates for these certifications are not provided.
