Scott Shafer

Host/Correspondent

Scott Shafer is an experienced media professional and public service advocate with a career spanning over three decades. Currently, Shafer serves as a Board Member for the Leo T. McCarthy Center for Public Service and the Common Good and has been a Host/Correspondent for KQED Public Media since April 1998, where Shafer leads the California Report Magazine and covers various topics including politics, government, legal issues, and public health. Previous roles include Chief of Staff to State Controller Gray Davis, Board Member at the Coro Center for Civic Leadership, Senior Editor for KQED's Politics and Government coverage, and Press Secretary to San Francisco Mayor Art Agnos. Shafer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Physiology, Chemistry, and Human Nutrition from Cornell University.
