Sam Young

Sam Young is a Senior Data Scientist at KrakenFlex (Octopus Energy Group) since August 2022, focusing on real-time optimization of grid-connected power assets, with significant work on storage optimization algorithms for hydrogen generation. Previously, Sam served as Lead Data Scientist at OVO Energy from March 2018 to August 2022, managing a team and responsible for modeling gas and power demand, evaluating weather risk, and developing auto-trading pipelines. Earlier experience includes a role as a Software Developer at IG from September 2012 to April 2015, where Sam contributed to the development of a JavaScript charting library for web and mobile platforms. Sam holds an MMathPhil in Maths and Philosophy from the University of Oxford and a Masters by Research in Applied Mathematics from the University of Bristol.
