Alex Watkinson

Alex Watkinson has a diverse work experience spanning over 15 years. Starting in 2008, they worked as a Software Engineer at Nokia, where they gained experience in back-end development, transitioned to Clojure micro-services, and implemented a continuous delivery process. In addition, they took the lead on an events logging and archiving system project. At Microsoft, they worked as a Software Engineer, focusing on application software engineering and development for the MixRadio music application.

They joined MixRadio in 2015 as a Senior Software Engineer, where they developed the CRM system, overhauled the data store to meet GDPR requirements, and mentored new team members. At English Language iTutoring Ltd, they were part of the core development team, building language learning tools based on NLP research. Their role involved developing web apps from scratch and heading up the annotation tools for generating training data.

In their most recent role at Audoo, as a Senior Software Engineer, they were the sole cloud engineer in a remote startup team. Their responsibilities included developing infrastructure, building micro-services, and supporting audio fingerprinting and web app features. They worked closely with the CTO to ensure the infrastructure's security and scalability.

In 2023, Alex Watkinson joined Kroo Bank as a Senior Software Engineer.

Alex Watkinson completed a Bachelor's Degree in Music Technology at The University of Huddersfield from 2005 to 2008. Later, Alex pursued further education at The Open University from 2011 to 2013 and obtained a DIP(COMP) in Computer Science, specializing in Software Development and A.I. Additionally, Alex acquired a certification in "Querying and Processing SQL Server Data Using Microsoft SQL" from SQA in July 2010.
