Umar Ryad

Umar Ryad is currently a Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies at KU Leuven, a position they have held since 2017. They previously served as an Associate Professor of Islamic Studies at Universiteit Utrecht from 2014 to 2017, and as an Assistant Professor at the Leiden Institute of Religious Studies from 2006 to 2014. Umar began their academic career as an Assistant-in-training at Leiden University from 2003 to 2006 and earned a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies from Leiden University in 2008.
