As the global paradigm shift of the post-80s brought on pervasive, self-evident and fundamental changes in every aspect of life, ‘smart design’ not only became an even more pivotal and integral part in linking cultural and artistic sensibilities with the norms of free market economy, but also re-invented itself as a tool of moderation against some of the negative effects of mass consumerism.
