Carol Smith

Carol Smith is an accomplished author and writer with extensive experience in journalism, narrative coaching, and editing. Since May 2021, Carol has been self-employed as an author, publishing "CROSSING THE RIVER: SEVEN STORIES THAT SAVED MY LIFE," a memoir that delves into grief and resilience. Carol's freelance work, ongoing since March 2009, includes writing, editing, and coaching, with a focus on narratives across various media platforms, covering topics such as science, medicine, and social issues. Previous roles include executive editor at InvestigateWest, freelance reporter for KUOW Public Radio and the Los Angeles Times, and enterprise reporter at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Carol holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Stanford University and a Master of Science in Plant Pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
